Optical Lenses

Optical lenses of any type can have their performance improved by applying lens coatings, also known as lens treatments.

• 

  Scratch-Resistant

  Although optical lenses cannot be made completely scratch-proof, applying an anti-scratch coating can significantly increase their surface hardness and durability.
• 

  Anti-Reflective (AR)

  To provide better vision and reduce distractions, anti-reflective coating, also known as anti-glare, is applied to both the front and back surfaces of the lens to eliminate reflections.
• 

  Anti-Fog

  It prevents lens fogging upon entering a cold environment and reduces the occurrence of fogging resulting from sweating or heat.
• 

  UV Blocking

  Clear or dark lenses with built-in UV protection safeguard your eyes and their sensitivity by blocking harmful UV rays. ZEISS lenses come equipped with UVProtect Technology, eliminating the need for a separate coating.

  Blue Light Protect
  

  ZEISS' DuraVision® BlueProtect is a lens coating that filters out blue light, thereby reducing the amount of blue light that reaches your eyes and mitigating eye strain caused by digital displays.
• 

  Polarization

  A chemical filter is applied to polarized sunglass lenses, which blocks horizontal light rays, preventing glare from reflected light on water, cars, or other shiny surfaces.
• 

  Mirror Coating

  Sunglass lenses with a mirror coating not only add a stylish touch but also enhance visual comfort in harsh lighting environments. ZEISS offers DuraVision Mirror coating in eight different colors.
• 

  Tint

  The addition of a colored tint to clear lenses can serve several purposes such as fashion, fun or improving visual clarity in specific conditions. Tinted lenses can augment contrast and enhance depth perception, proving advantageous for outdoor activities, sports, or driving.

• Single Vision Lenses
  Single-vision lenses feature prescription power throughout the entire lens, making them suitable for correcting both near-sightedness (myopia) and far-sightedness (hyperopia).
• Bifocal Lenses
  Bifocal lenses consist of two separate lenses in one, designed to correct both near-sighted and far-sighted vision, and they are characterized by a visible dividing line between the two.
• Trifocal Lenses
  Trifocal lenses are comprised of three lenses to address not only near and far-distance vision but also presbyopia, which results from the loss of flexibility in the eye's lens, leading to difficulty focusing on objects at medium distances.
• Progressive Lenses
  Progressive lenses are gaining popularity as a preferred alternative to bifocals and trifocals. They provide correction for near, medium, and far distances without any visible dividing line or "transition zone."
• Toric Lenses
  Toric lenses are a variety of single-vision lenses used for correcting astigmatism by incorporating cylinder correction, an extra prescription power.
• Prism Lenses
  Prism lenses correct heterophoria, a vision condition in which the eyes do not converge at the same point when at rest.

• CR-39 Plastic
  Thermally-cured plastic polymer CR-39 is popular for being lightweight and low-cost.
• Polycarbonate
  Initially, polycarbonate was utilized for manufacturing helmet visors and safety glasses, and now it is a prevalent selection for prescription eyeglasses due to its lighter weight and greater resistance to impact compared to CR-39 plastic.
• High-index Plastic
  High-index plastic lenses have a higher refractive index than CR-39 plastic, which allows light to pass through more efficiently, resulting in thinner and lighter lenses.
• Glass
  Glass lenses possess outstanding optical properties such as scratch resistance and are usually less expensive than plastic lenses. However, despite the lower initial cost, glass lenses are not commonly used nowadays due to their weight and fragility compared to plastics.
